ABOUT
SWORD AND BALKAN
Sword and Balkan is a two-day international gathering of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) enthusiasts, taking place on 14-15. June, 2025 at the Sport Center Graovac in Belgrade, Serbia. This inaugural edition brings together some of the best instructors and fencers from the Balkan region and beyond, focusing on five swords with strong local HEMA relevance: longsword, rapier, sidesword, sabre, and smallsword.
Organized by School of Historical European Swordplay - Terca, one of Serbia’s most respected HEMA clubs, Sword and Balkan 2025 will host over 20 international instructors. Our goal is to make Sword and Balkan a premium biannual HEMA event, that unites HEMA across the Balkans and beyond!
Participants will be able to attend a diverse selection of workshops and lectures that balance hands-on technical training with historical insight. However, the event is much more than just a learning opportunity. With dedicated sparring area and additional activities Sword and Balkan is designed as a vibrant meeting place for the international HEMA community, fostering connection, collaboration and shared passion in an energetic and welcoming atmosphere.
Whether you're a seasoned hemaist or just beginning your journey into historical fencing, Sword and Balkan 2025 offers a unique chance to experience the art, history, and community that define our practice, in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities.
Join us in Belgrade for an unforgettable weekend of swords, tradition, and camaraderie!
